November 16, 2008

Well, I guess we can say that winter is officially here. For those of you that said I was nuts when I mentioned how sick of summer I was.... You were right. This sucks. We saw the sun briefly yesterday, but that has been it for about a week. Other than the 10 beautiful minutes of blue sky yesterday, we have been gloomy and cold for a week... or is it a month? I lose track of the days when it's like this. I love the upper midwest - especially the 4 distinct seasons - but this part kills me every year. I am looking forward to snow. Lots and lots of snow!! It can just wait until we get back from Michigan!

Extreme Sour Lemon War Heads Candy

Gabriel was the first to try it...blah! He spit it right out. It took only a little coaxing to get him to taste it again - I had to get a picture, afterall!

Ryan was an unsuspecting victim. He was actually on the phone with his Dad when we snared him in! Gabe pretended it was the best candy ever to get him to taste it. This time I was ready with the camera!

Peyton is such a dare devil! Even after Big Bro and Dad, she STILL wanted to try it! Surprisingly enough, she liked it enough to eat the entire piece!

Halloween 2008

It was a beautiful night for Trick or Treating! The weather was perfect - we didn't have to put snow pants on the kids under their costumes this year!

We started off the evening just before dark. The kids have been going through an "I'm scared," phase, so we were a little worried about their reaction to Halloween. Luckily, we had no issues. Once the candy started flowing, they were the happiest little ghosts in town!

No major injuries to report, although we did have a few close calls.

Gabe was the first to trip running across the street to the next house, but he was able to brush it off, readjust his costume, and keep on going. He tripped one other time when running full speed (in the dark) and smack into a huge decorative rock in a families front yard. Since he has the reflexes of a Puma, he quickly regained his balance and yelled back to us, "Whoa! That was a close one!" while still running.

Kayla (the little Princess that lives next door to us, and Peyton's best friend) hit the pavment a couple of times but, agan, avoided major injuries.

I think Peyton took the biggest tumble out of all three when she lost her footing. She was running full speed to keep up with the other 2 when she took a digger to the sidewalk. She came back up screaming and covered in leaves. I thought for sure she broke a wrist catching herself! After a few moments of consoling, she was back out with her friends terrorizing the neighborhood!

The Diegel Family Bolg

A very lovely friend of mine in Omaha gave me this idea...let's see how it goes! Ryan and I are bad about phone calls and e-mails, so maybe this will be a great way for everyone to keep tabs on us!

It may take me a while to figure it all out so please be patient!
